It's almost Easter, and StaciNadia is uploading a Christmas picture?! She sure is, because this is her entry to contest!
The idea was to draw Seiken character celebrating a holiday. Quite a few years ago, I attempted a picture of the SD2 (aka Secret of Mana) gang helping Santa load up his sleigh, since Santa and Rudolph are actual characters in that game. I wanted to try that again for this contest. I eventually changed my mind to this picture, probably a few weeks before I started this.
Here we have Randy, Purim, and Popoie taking a picture with Santa and Rudolph, much like kids (and pets!) have their picture with Santa taken at the mall. The photographer? One of the walrus dudes from Todo Village!
I love that you thought of a holiday scenario that is actually part of the game -- the stylization of Santa and Rudolph is sweet, simple, and very true to their SoM look. Rudolph's beady eyes are so cute =3
The arragement of the characters is nice and balanced, and evokes a family portrait. Most of the hard shadows look like they're cast from a frontal camera flash (it would be funny if they all had red-eye!). Some look more like they were cast from overhead sunlight, though, like the hair shadow on Randy's face. The cloudly background looks nice, but the picture might have benefitted from a more Christmas-y backdrop.
I'm so proud of you for muscling through this despite technical difficulties! Overall it came out great -- colorful, cute, and festive. Good work Nadia, this brought back memories!
Heh heh, yeah, I made it like a Polaroid picture! XD
Yay, the family portrait idea was definitely what I was going for!
I didn't even THINK about the flash from the camera! :0 Red-eye would've been hilarious! XD I was picturing a bunch of those big lights they use for photography shining down on them, leaving the only shadows on the bottom slopes of things (did that make sense?). I toyed with the idea of a screen background, like in photography studios, but I realized that would take more time than I had... ; A Christmas background WOULD have been cool. =3
Thank you for your great comments! =3 And the technical difficulties got solved (it was the USB port, apparently!), too!
