Last year, on our trip to a friend's wedding, drew an awesome sketch of Secret of Mana's (Seiken Densetsu 2) heroes Randy and Purim in my sketchbook. Inspired, I drew a sketch of Undine from the same game. I did it from memory, so some of her design was off. When I got home, I fixed the picture up, scanned it, and started coloring. I procrastinated making a background because I'm not good at it at all, though I've been interested in using a tablet to make a painted background. Finally, the other day, I transfered the file to Red's computer and did the background, transfered the file back, and finished it.
Undine's my favorite elemental in the Seiken series. And her cave in SD2 is really calm and relaxing, with the water cascading all around the cave. Undine and the background were done in different styles (Undine was airbrushed and the background was painted), but I hope that they go well together, and has that same beautiful feel that the game does. I had fun doing the background, and I almost forgot that her hair would have a reflection! It's too bad that Undine kinda obscures the background... This was also the first picture I did that had multiple light sources!
So, , I dedicate this picture to you! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration! ~hugs~
Neat! I had completely forgotten what picture that background was for... In anycase, Undine looks just right and your coloring is as good as ever. ^^ Especially the lighting, though, I think the hilights in her hair would be finer... As for the background... Heh. It looks like something out of Earthbound. I love the transparency and you did her silouhette in the water just right! Overall, VERY good! ^^
Yeah, I'd like to do better hair highlights, but I think I'd have to do them with a tablet. Maybe the next picture I do will be entirely colored on your computer! XD And hey, you're right! That background would totally fit in a Mother/Earthbound game!
